The instrument is equipped for the direct input of Pt100 probes with 4 wires or temperature probes of the TP870 series, already amplified and linearized. Instrument range: -200°C...+ 800°C, -328°F...+1472°F.

The HD 9117 has the following built-in functions:
- Automatic cut-out after 8 minutes: AUTO POWER OFF
- Automatic change of scale: AUTORANGE
- Relative measurements: REL
- Stores and displays the maximum and minimum temperature value: REC, DATA CALL
- Acoustic signal (beep) after pressing a key
- Low battery signal (beep) every 30 seconds.
